As a lawyer closing complex commercial transactions and litigating business disputes for over 30 years, I organize a project team with our client and other stakeholders, consultants and professionals to efficiently and effectively achieve our clients’ goals, whether through negotiating to complete the transaction or resolving the dispute by a lawsuit, mediation or otherwise.  My goal is always to resolve the problem to our client’s satisfaction and with the least cost and delay.  Whether working with a single owner, local branch of a larger entity, or a major corporation, I know that budgeting, planning and managing the project is important to all of my clients, and that cooperative partnering with our client garners the best result.  As general counsel for many businesses, families and organizations, I counsel and assist our clients in getting the best and most appropriate legal and other services and advice, whether provided by our firm or other professionals in our network that we are confident can provide the best service.

Practice Areas: Business Law, Civil LitigationReal Estate

Litigation and Dispute Resolution

While most commercial and business disputes are resolved by settlement (as they should be), my approach is to ensure the other party knows we are prepared to take the matter to trial or ultimate resolution on behalf of our client if a reasonable accommodation cannot be reached, in order to maximize our client’s return.  My extensive experience in litigating and settling enumerable disputes enables me to bring creative and out of the box solutions to resolve complex disputes.  As a trained business mediator, I aim for a win/win solution whenever possible.  As with all problem solving for our clients, the costs and risks need to be objectively evaluated in light if potential gains and the value of the matter in issue.

Construction and Real Estate Law

From land acquisition to development to construction to sale, I have been involved in a vast array of real estate and construction projects, issues and disputes.  While similar, commercial, industrial and residential real estate projects each have unique aspects and my experience with each allows me to bring both experience and ingenuity to the project and in addressing disputes.  Building projects, whether new construction or rehab, almost always generate problems for financiers, owners, general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and buyers, and our representation is driven by our clients’ role within the project and the parties’ joint desire to complete the project on time and on budget.  In leasing, knowing the law, the parties’ rights and duties, and our clients’ goals are critical in achieving the best result.
